Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation. – Ephesians6:16-17
In ancient times, the Roman soldiers were trained to aim for the head or the heart, because that was the fastest way to kill a man. This is still the devil’s strategy. Paul said, “Put on the whole armor of God” (Ephesians 6:11). Child of God, the enemy is out today to get your head, so put on your helmet. The real battleground is your thought life. Solomon said, ‘As he thinks in his heart, so is he” (Proverbs 23:7, NKJV).
The other day, I heard someone say, “I’ve been poor, but I’ve never thought poor.” What an attitude! If you don’t learn to think for yourself, your mind will become a playing field for others. They will do your thinking for you. Today, decide to take back your mind, and renew it with the Word of God. David said that the man or woman who would succeed must meditate day and night on the Word of God (see Psalm 1). Since you can think your way into victory or defeat, joy or sorrow, life or death, then you need to start renewing your mind daily with the Word. The time to start is today!
