Honor comes from two sources-Christ and the crowd. If you see the crowd as your source, then pleasing them becomes everything. John the Baptist publicly rebuked the sins of a king and it cost him his life. The three Hebrew children refused to bow to another god-they wouldn’t even nod in his direction. Paul rebuked peter for his racial prejudice, and God put it in the bible for all of us to learn from.
These men didn’t know crowd psychology or marketing strategies, they knew God, and that’s why they prevailed. Daniel said, “the people that do know their God shall be strong and do exploits” {Daniel 11:32). What we need is not more talent, or more pulpit finesse, we need men and women who hear from God and aren’t afraid to declare what he says. They may not be popular with the crowd, but God will honor them. And when it’s all said and done, can you think of anything more important? Honoring him! Make it the goal of your life.
