There are “friends” who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother. – Proverbs 18:24, NL T

Faithful friends . . . believe in each other. They have a way of bringing out the best in each other. They will celebrate your victories. They will comfort you during the difficult times in life. They tell the truth no matter what. They will insist on growth and that you bring honor to God. Jesus is a friend that sticks closer than a brother.

What will people say at your funeral? What will be the main theme of their thoughts? Will they describe you as kind and compassionate? Will they talk about missing the best friend they ever had? You may think that your eulogy is beyond your reach, but it isn’t. You are writing it today – on the hearts and lives of the people around you. So don’t hold back. Write it in bold strokes of love. A person can have no better epitaph than that which is inscribed in the hearts of friends.
