Elijah discovered that when the brook dried up, God was still his source (1 Kings 17). The most important thing you’ve got is your relationship with God.
Anything you put before that-you’re going to lose! So what’s this all about? Simply this: If your possessions are just a status symbol or a security blanket, then you’ve missed it. My greatest joy has not been what I’ve acquired, but what I’ve been able to give, and the problems I’ve been able to solve for hurting people. A pastor friend tells folks, ”I want God to bless me so much, that every time I open my checkbook the devil will tremble and run for cover.” If he proves himself faithful with little, God will trust him with much. Child of God, that includes you, too.
