“Enoch … had this testimony, that he pleased God.” – Hebrews 11 :5
Enoch’s testimony was that “he pleased God.” How about you? Do you spend your life trying to please yourself? If you spend your life working for things, and protecting the things you have, the answer is obvious. Is your testimony that “you try to please others?” Many of us are caught in this trap. We’re afraid to give out a gospel tract in case someone ridicules us. We pass up opportunities to witness for Christ out of fear of rejection. Jesus said, “But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 10:33).
Child of God, there are forces at work today that seek to pull you down and compromise your testimony. When the angels were ready to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, they gave Lot a chance to get his children. But when he warned them to get out, they laughed at him. The Bible says, “He seemed as one that mocked” (Genesis 19:14). What happened? Were they aware of his shady business dealings? The off-color stories? His pastimes? One thing is sure, when he needed his testimony most, he didn’t have it. God is looking for people today who will live clean in a dirty world.
So you have a choice. You can have a testimony like Lot, or a testimony like Enoch-it’s up to you.
