Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews. John 19:38
Years ago a famous a heist gave a talk to 2,000 students in a North American university. For an hour she ridiculed religion, defied God and attacked the Bible. When she finished, a Christian girl at the back of the auditorium stood up and began to sing, “Stand up, stand up
for Jesus, ye soldiers of the Cross, lift high His royal banner, it must not suffer loss. Everyone was stunned for a moment. Then in a different section of the auditorium, a young man stood to his feet and joined in singing, “From victory unto victory, His army shall He lead.” Others suddenly jumped to their feet and joined in until all over the auditorium hundreds of students were singing, “From victory unto victory, His army shall He lead, ’til every foe is vanquished and Christ is Lord indeed.”
Enraged, the atheist stormed from behind the podium, swearing she would never be back. What she had tried to build for the devil in an hour-long speech was torn down in a few moments by the commitment and the courage of a young Christian who refused to be a secret disciple. Are you a “closet Christian” like Joseph of Arimathea? Today, God is going to give you an opportunity to speak up for Jesus. Don’t miss it!
