As the leftovers from Thanksgiving fade and the busy holiday season begins, it canbe easy to let our spirit of gratitude fade with them. Thanksgiving reminds us to pause and reflect, but God invites us into something deeper, a lifestyle of thankfulness, not just a day on the calendar.
“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.” Psalm 106:1
This verse reminds us that gratitude isn’t anchored in our circumstances; it’s anchored in God’s unchanging character. His goodness doesn’t come and go. His love doesn’t rise and fall with the seasons. And because of that, our thanksgiving can remain steady long after the holiday ends.
Three ways to carry Thanksgiving into the weeks ahead:
1. Remember His Faithfulness: Take a moment each day this week to recall one way God has shown up for you, big or small. Gratitude grows when we pause to notice His fingerprints on our lives.
2. Let Gratitude Shape Your Words: Whether it’s with family, coworkers, or strangers in line at the store, choose to speak life, blessing, and kindness. A grateful heart naturally overflows into encouraging words.
3. Use Your Blessings to Bless Others: True gratitude moves us to generosity. Ask God to show you someone who needs encouragement, prayer, or a simple act of kindness this week. When we bless others, we reflect His heart.
As we step into this new season, may we remember that thanksgiving isn’t something we pack away with the holiday decorations. It’s a daily posture of the heart … one that draws us closer to Jesus and opens our eyes to the goodness He’s pouring out every day.
Lord, thank You for Your goodness that never changes. Help us carry a spirit of gratitude into every moment this week. Open our hearts to Your blessings and open our hands to bless others. Amen.
